Tropics – Mouves (Pedestrian Remix)

Pedestrian

Way back in October 2011 (so, like, forever ago) I described Pedestrian’s musical temperament as “wondrously delicate yet lush”, a statement which could be partially applied to this remix of ‘Mouves’ from Tropics’ recent album Parodia Flare.

By partially applied, I mean that while it’s certainly not as delicate as Hei Poa, it is still lusher than a tropical bird convention held in the default Windows XP wallpaper field…which, I must admit, is rather lush.

I would have actually come up with a brand new way to describe this sublime offering, but it’s Saturday and you know what that means: no time to write, too busy eating chicken wings and watching QVC. I’ve always wanted a tool that would take the elbow grease out of household cleaning and now I’m finally going to get it!

Qualmsound – Water (Blynk Remix)

Blynk

So it’s Wednesday night, time for some speedcore and a prolonged session of rough German sex, right? Well, not quite. Maybe this will fit the mood a little better. Deep, tranquil and underpinned by a simple yet methodically pulsing bassline, this Blynk remix of Qualmsound’s ‘Water’ is an artfully laid-back affair which would perfectly soundtrack the sunrise after a heavy night out. Not that I would know anything about that, of course. I don’t go out because my only friend is a dog.

Did I mention it’s free? Listen and download below.

The 2 Bears – Work (Toddla T Remix)

2 Bears

The 2 Bears absolutely smashed it last year with their whimsical hit ‘Bear Hug’ lodging itself in the brains of many bear/electronic music lovers like a funky splinter. This year is set to be even more of a grizzly ride with their debut album Be Strong due for a January 29th release which will no doubt send us folks residing here in the ‘blogosphere’ (as people who write newspapers like to call it) bloody mental. First, however, we have been gifted — or at least, gifted the opportunity to purchase — a cracking remixes EP featuring some ball-busting edits of the Bears’ recent single ‘Work’ alongside the full version of the track itself. Employing the galactic talents of Toddla T, Oliver $, Supabeatz and Franky Rizardo, it’s a heavyweight line-up and the resultant tunes are more radical than your cousin when he wears that sun visor backwards AND upside down. Now that’s flippin’ cool.

Below is Toddla’s offering which features vocals from former Roll Deep member Trim as well as Scrufizzer and Trigganom and I guarantee that if you like it, you’ll like it. Have a listen and I’ll give you a bear hug…although I’m not particularly bear-like. It would probably be more of a bear skeleton hug. It would still comfort you though, you cold-hearted zombie you.

Joker – Back in the Days (Kahn Remix)

Kahn

Even though I’m convinced that the first words uttered in this tune are “I’m on top of the game and no-one’s parsnip”, it’s worth battling through the childish mirth because, all vegetables aside, it’s rather good. A right Bristol knees up with Kahn lending a fleshy orchestral touch to Joker’s ‘Back in the Days’ from his recent album The Vision, it doesn’t actually feel hugely different, but that doesn’t really bother me because I love the original.

Anyway, it’s free to download so grab it below. Shouts to our new buddies Squeegie for getting this up before me!

Bombay Bicycle Club – Lights Out Words Gone (Dark Sky Remix)

Bombay Bicycle Club Dark Sky Remix

We love a bit of Dark Sky here at BM HQ. We also love HP, TNT, P2P, THC and S&M. Some say we’re one of the biggest proponents of acronyms this side of the Great Firewall of China. Do they even have acronyms in China?

The cat’s already out of the bag in terms of this lush groover of a remix. Accuse me of being somewhat off the ball and I’ll do it. I’ll kill this kitten that I have with me here. Although he’s getting on pretty well with his musical adaptation of The Da Vinci Code so I might just leave him to it.

Dark Sky are (still) touring, check their SoundCloud.

Emeli Sandé – Daddy (Disclosure Remix)

Emile Sande - Discloure

Forthcoming on Virgin records as one of the five remixes on Emeli Sandé’s Daddy [Remixes] EP, which also features the likes of Ifan Dafydd and Cyantific, Disclosure’s deep house interpretation of the original is rather deep and also rather housey too. I’m not kidding. Driven by a classic synth stab that would inspire even the most hardened criminals to drop their knives and dance, it has been a good tune to start the week with. Last week my alarm clock radio combo (AM/FM, just saying) woke me up with Kelly Clarkson warbling like an injured bird and I could see the mini storm cloud forming above my head…

Daddy [Remixes] EP drops on November 27th. Pre-order Disclosure’s remix at Amazon.
