Posted today by the good folks over at The Guardian, this is a full-length stream of Be Strong, the forthcoming album from Joe Goddard and Raf Rundell, a duo collectively known as The 2 Bears.

Having listened to the whole thing this afternoon, I can assure you of its deeply groove-endowed and occasionally eccentric nature, which had me nodding my head like one of those springy door stops on a particularly funky dose of speed (in this instance, speed is a concoction of Ribena and Cherry Coke). Of the tracks that I had previously not heard, ‘Get Together’ really stood out for me, with the short portion of horns giving me a mad case of dance-by-yourself-but-still-look-around-to-acknowledge-fake-people. I’m pretty sure it will have the same effect on you. Unless you have friends because then you can dance with actual people.

I need to buy this and get it in my car, I’m pretty sure the engine would start to run on rainbow juice and the windscreen would transform external landscapes into Jet Set Radio Future style utopian cartoons.

Be Strong is out on Southern Fried on January 30th.

Forthcoming on Permanent Vacation, Fin (ƒin) is the debut album of Barcelona producer John Talabot, whom you may remember from last year’s transcendent Families EP. Due to drop on January 27th, my levels of excitement for this release exceed even the delirium I experienced when I first saw an advert for Aquila. You’ll see why when you listen to the track below.

‘So Will Be Now…’ featuring Pional is nothing short of hypnotic, as rich textures collide with mercurial, downtuned vocals to produce a captivating 7 minutes of deep, pulsing house. Without exaggerating, I must have played this 10 times in a row already this morning. Maybe 11 times.

People may walk past our window and scream “Scrooooge!” while shaking their fists, but we can be generous souls here at Box Musique and to prove it we’re giving away 2 pairs of tickets to Triangle in London on December 2nd. Of course, in reality, it’s the guys over at Triangle who are giving away the tickets and we are merely facilitating such generosity, so don’t give us all the credit…but do give us some.

In terms of the actual event, Hyperdub’s Ossie is headlining proceedings with his blissful brand of organically-inspired house ready to get you moving like a centipede on a trampoline or possibly even a millipede on a trampoline. Alongside him is another purveyor of chilled yet optimistic vibes in Hackman, Take Record’s James Fox and the Triangle resident 2-22′s is the final piece of the beautiful puzzle. Basically, if you’ve got a place in your heart for the deep and groovy, then this is your thing. Or maybe I should change “thing” to “ting” to sound a bit cooler…and maybe not use the word groovy, ever.

How to Enter (In Bold to Save Scanning Time)
To enter all you’ve got to do is head over to that Twitter website and tweet a link to this post with the hashtag #wintriangle included before November 30th and then I’ll sift through all [4] of the entries and pick out one at random. If you’re interested in our ‘random’ method, last time we ran a comp Oldsy wrote everyone’s name on a grape and threw a bowl at me…I caught one in my mouth and BOOM. Winner. We’ll do something similar this time, maybe with knives and a spinning wheel. Why are you still reading this? Enter the damn thing!

Triangle is at the City Arts & Music Project in London on December 2nd. Head over to the event page on Facebook for more info. Flyer after the jump.

Forthcoming on Pictures Music, Whats There — missing apostrophe intentional — is a 3 track release from Welsh multi-instrumentalist Dauwd. Lauded by the likes of Giles Petersen, Caribou and The XX (on their confusing blog), his style is profoundly organic, mellow and richer than Scrooge McDuck. The title tune, ‘Whats There’, is similar to the recent crop of ’90s house revival tunes, with a sampled vocal snippet and deep kicks thrumming consistently throughout, but there’s an altogether more mellifluous vibe that sets Dauwd apart. Despite this, I was actually quite disappointed when the bassline that kicks in at 1:58 wasn’t continued later on, it made me feel like I’d just discovered that injecting chocolate intensifies the flavour and then realised chocolate had been obsolete since the asteroid hit, you know, the one that wiped out most of the human race except a few stereotypes who banded together for survival. I’d be the nerdy one who eventually wins over the attractive female. Definitely.

Anyway, I posted this because Dauwd is playing alongside Scuba in Sheffield tonight at Drumro[ll] and both me and Oldsy are making an appearance. Advance tickets are sold out online, but there’s a few knocking about at Bungalows & Bears and Golden Harvest and there’ll be a limited supply on the door so you should come down. If you manage to make it and want an autograph from us, just ask…and then brandish a fiver with the promise of more to come (we need the money). Head to Drumro[ll] on Facebook for mo.

Straight from the sprawling urban tangle of New Yorkshire, Falty DL hits somewhat dizzying heights with the release of Atlantis on Ninja Tune. It’s been out since Monday, allowing plenty of time for a concise, informative review to have been crafted by my fine self. But I can’t find it.

Falty (as he’s known to people who pretend to be his friend) well and truly throws genre constraints out of the window. To which we salute vigorously, however that might work. Opener ‘Atlantis’ rolls from a vintage Daft Punk intro towards a blissed out, synth-driven cloud adventure. Then there’s the cheeky junglist nod as ‘Can’t Stop the Prophet’ plays out. Something for everyone, as long as you got rhythm kid.

I am no doubt so far behind the times with this one that I may as well go pick up my gal and take her to see this rockin’ new band called The Beatles down at the Liverpool docks or wherever they used to play.

This is just a wee post to inform you that I’m getting into this mini album by BNJMN. And maybe you should be too. Let’s take the material away, draw our personal conclusions, meet over coffee to discuss and collude ideas then hand the report in on Wednesday. I feel a promotion may be on the cards.

Everybody has been remixing Lana Del Rey’s ‘Video Games’ recently and by everybody, I mean Jamie Woon and now, Joy Orbison (there has actually been loads more, but these are the only two I’ve posted). Where Woon’s version splices, transposes and generally focuses on switching up the vocals — in a beautiful manner, I must add — Orbison has kept the original vocal track complete and married it to a characteristically majestic house inspired beat with rather exquisite results. Have a listen while simultaneously admiring a picture of Miss Rey. How nice.

His name may make him sound like a lumbering brute from a fantasy novel, but his music tells a different story, one of people dressed like Wesley Snipes from New Jack City chilling on sunny, evening beaches (I don’t know what this image means either, but it’s damn cool). Hailing from Bristol, Hodge, otherwise known as Jacob Martin, is one of a number of producers turning out that distinctly house-inspired dubstep sound and most of his output is smoother than the creamy hand on the Gaviscon adverts. ‘The Fall’, which drops on Monday (October 10) with ‘Crush’ as a b-side, is exquisite. Use your ears and that.

His Anytime Will Do EP will be out May 31 and will hopefully carry on the C&S tradition of not giving a shit and chilling the fuck out.

Talking of traditions, the label recently posted a sort of retrospective collection on SoundCloud, featured below. 18 tracks of minimal genius for those of us who believe being horizontal beats being vertical pretty much every time.
