I would have posted this yesterday but I was predisposed, it’s pretty hard trying to update your blog and defeat circus crime at the same time you know.
Still, Mad Decent have dropped a free mixtape in the name of currently incarcerated rapper Gucci Mane and it’s dripping with talent. Comprising remixes from Gucci’s The Cold War Mixtapes, there are contributions from Diplo (obviously), Flying Lotus, Mumdance, DZ, Zomby and host of other impressive producers, it’s all very exciting.
What’s that? You don’t like Diplo? Think of this mixtape as a w(rap) of smack; even if you think you won’t like it, you’re probably going to end up loving it.*

We all know DZ for the constant stream of nasty, teeth-chattering tunes he churns out at an almost inhuman rate and now, to kick off 2010 with something special, he’s releasing his first full length LP. The Proliferation Sequence is a huge, two part, 26 track release which promises to showcase the full extent of DZ’s musical scope and wobble your lungs inside out.
It would be reasonable to have doubts as to the overall quality of such a massive release, but from what I’ve heard so far, there doesn’t seem to be much dead wood stuffing the gaps. The tracks I’ve included below are from parts one and two respectively and are both, for want of a better phrase, absolutely sick. ‘Head Cold’ pulsates with a disconcerting strain of industrial depravity and ‘Blackout’ bears a bassline which lacerates the aural landscape, distorting and twisting its way into your system like an angry cobra. If you can’t tell already, I am a fan of DZ.
This one drops on January 5th and is available on 7digital.

Betamorph Recordings’ second promo mix, Big Basha’s ‘Hits from the Strong’, comprises over an hour of filthy dubs that’ll make you feel like you’ve dived headfirst down a sewage pipe slip ‘n slide. Relentlessly heavy from start to finish, this little terror will box your ears like an East End mother, hitting you square in the jaw with a fistful of abusive bass. I’m serious, you know, this here mix be heavy.
Packed full of tunes largely courtesy of the Betamorph roster (which, you’ll notice, is very similar to the one cultivated over at Rottun), we’ve been treated to the likes of DZ, Flux Pavilion, Trolley Snatcha, RSK and Mark Instinct, as well as a ream of other up and coming filth mongers. Download it, have a listen, have a shower, repeat.
