Download 2008 is Strange
I'm fully aware that since my rant a month ago, Download's organisers have confirmed a host of decent acts to bring the average age of performers down to a regular level. But, I still have a few qualms...like why Lostprophets are one of the three main headline acts when Incubus, Motorhead, 36 Crazyfists, Coheed & Cambria and Biffy Clyro are all languishing in the regular font spots.
I'd much rather have Incubus school me in the art of sci-fi dramas and turntablism (Battlestar Scralatchtica anyone?) than have Ian Watkins spend an hour describing the finer points of his latest fucking haircut and moaning like a mountain goat. Start Something may have gone platinum, but their latest spew, Liberation Transmission, only scraped gold and yet they get to stand alongside The Offspring, whose '94 release Smash sold more than 16 million copies - exactly, what the fuck? Hmmmmm....
Also, before I go, let me just take a moment to laugh at Chris Cornell, who is on a solo tour due to Rage [sort of] getting back together....'Cochise'? Oh, you meant to say 'Guerilla Radio' - good.
